«Am Ring» residential and commercial development
Mettler Entwickler AG was commissioned by Basler Leben AG to develop the «Giessen site». The project is based on a design plan and is characterised by its visionary motto «The Future is Urban».
It combines the spheres of work, home life and leisure in an urban ensemble. In addition to six high-rise buildings, a public park is being built to the west of the site with a variety of leisure facilities, including a barbecue pavilion, a bike park, a playground and a public toilet. The project attaches great importance to sustainability and complies with the Minergie-P-Eco standard.
“Areal Giessen” is located in a residential area that connects the municipalities of Wallisellen, Dübendorf and Schwamendingen, and represents the last large residential area available in this region. National, regional and urban transport infrastructures such as motorways, the Stettbach tram stop and the Glatttalbahn are just a stone’s throw away.
The former industrial and commercial areas in this neighbourhood are undergoing a highly dynamic process of urban transformation. As a result, there are already a range of projects completed or in the pipeline, ranging from low-cost cooperative housing with communal facilities to solitary high-rise buildings, extensions to Empa as a national research institution and AMAG as a large car repair shop, all in the immediate vicinity.
